I had to move out of my apartment to be able to come back to Cali this summer.  Kind of bittersweet because I really liked my apartment and roommate.  I don’t know many people who might tolerate me having visitors week after week.  Anyways, I had to reapply for fall housing so hopefully I get the same apartment building with a nice ass view.

So what happened to all my stuff?

I sold my bed because it was the biggest thing I had and my roommate was generous enough to let me store my things at the apartment for the summer.  Here are pics of what I left behind:

I stuffed my lounge chair in the corner of the living room with my desk hidden behind it.  When I go back this will serve as my bed…maybe I’ll pick up a new bed but we’ll see.

Everything else I placed in the hallway so it wouldn’t be in anyone’s way.  I try to live as minimal as I can seeing as NYC is not a permanent home for me.

Sometimes I feel nomadic.

My last meal…always gotta have papa johns:

Central Park Adventures

One thing I look forward to when I head back to Long Beach are barbecues in the summer.  If you didn’t know I love barbecues then fuck you — just kidding.  But really though, I enjoy it a lot.  It’s just very relaxing and fun to cook up some chicken, steaks, burgers, corn, kabobs, or hot dogs, drink some good beer, and be in the presence of good company.

My last year at UCLA I tried to take advantage of our balcony by having as many barbecues as I could.   I don’t have a balcony here in New York so that makes me sad.

Anyways, Carolyn bought me an indoor barbecue grill because she knew how much I missed barbecuing.  The only problem is it gets really smokey in my apartment every time I use it.  However, the whole floor smells good, like really good.

So that’s my rant about barbecues.  Hopefully, I’ll have a chance to enjoy a lot of them this summer.

*I know I am in none of these pictures.  Where are the pics of me barbecuing?!

“Live below the line, so that others can rise above it.” — Hugh Jackman

“Live Below the Line is an initiative of the Global Poverty Project, an education and campaigning organization whose mission is to increase the number and effective of people taking action against extreme poverty.”

Can you live below the line?  This new and innovative challenge was started through Rich Fleming in 2009 and serves as not only a challenge to people, but a true exercise in human empathy (not sympathy — know the difference people!). So what’s the challenge? To spend 5 days feeding yourself with just a mere $1.50 a day (talk about extreme dieting — ‘murica). This gives a glimpse into the true lives of 1.4 billion people who have no choice but to live with this amount every day of their lives. But it’s not as easy as you think! There are rules and guidelines to abide by in order for you to accurately and justly experience the seriousness of this issue. This event takes place from May 5th - 11th.

It’s fresh, it’s creative, it’s challenging…and most significantly, it’s humane. I’m well aware most of the people who follow me are Cambodian American, therefore you are not blind to how much poverty strikes our background and motherland. This nation is one of many with its citizens living below the poverty line. What’s the cost of 5 days compared to a lifetime of malnurishment, hurt, and vulnerability? Sign up. I dare you.

I told her to do this because I was too lazy to write one out.  This is a difficult challenge! ~ $1.50 a day?!

A week without a laptop….I spend watching Batman Beyond Season 2 and daytime tv shows like Access Hollywood Live and the Wendy Williams Show.

I got the internship in LA!

I’ll be interning in Alhambra at Substance Abuse, Prevention and Control (a division of LAC Dept of Public Health) working on this project: Trends and Patterns in Prescription Drug Admissions in LA County Publicly Funded Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities.

See y’all in the summer.

Thanks to Carolyn and Diane for the designs.

I’m trying Alton Brown’s sardine sandwich recipe since I’ve been on an eating spree with sardines.  Lemon-sardine open-faced sandwich with guacamole (he actually uses avocado but I was too lazy to buy avocado).  I really like it and it does satisfy my hunger which is kind of surprising because it appears so minimal.
